In this short film, Charles Duhigg, author of the book The Power of Habit, explains how habits shape our lives for better and worse. He relates how he changed a habit by understanding its trigger and reward. A habit that prevented him from achieving his long-term goals. Understanding its mechanism allowed him to replace the habit by getting the same reward from a more beneficial behavior that didn’t have any negative consequences. But more importantly, it allowed him to stay motivated and keep the new habit and not falling back into old patterns of behavior.
